The Effect of Online Violent Video Games

Question: Discuss about the Effect of Online Violent Video Games. Answer: Study of Hollingdale Greitemever Hollingdale Greitemeyer, (2014) asserted that due to increasing people playing video games, the ethical issues on playing video games are often emerged in world. Video games are rapidly becoming popular source of entertainment among people. Nowadays technology is getting more and more advance, people not only can play video games via computer and they also can play with their smart phone. Henceforth, the populations of people playing video game are also increase. Video games can be single play, double play or group plays through online. His study also suggests that people who play violent games happen to show far more aggression than those who play neutral games. Study of Kramer According to Kramer (2015) addiction to video games causes children to have violent, impulsive personality and even produced a simulation of game in the idea of killing people to meet their sense of accomplishment. In an incident in Hefei China two underage teenagers were charged of intentional murder and arson because of addiction in video games and cannot extricate themselves. This case have attribute as crime of video games. Similar cases have been witnessed in many other places too. Long time exposure to games which features rash driving, car chase, murdering and where blood spatters realistically may deaden the children innocence and simplicity. Study of Dr. Brian Dr. Brian (2015) defines virtual reality as an environment which makes player think that they are actually living inside a completely believable virtual word. By playing with online, player can add another player and they can feel each other in virtual word. Another case happened with a female VR (virtual reality) player. VR players play with a headset and its display showcases a simulated environment to player. In his study he cites an incident which happened with a female player, where she was groped in VR by another player (Jakes 2017). Although it was not a real sexual assault, but it will let the player feel uncomfortable. This video games cause a bad ethical or behavior. Study of Elliott, Ream, McGinsky There are numerous negative ethical issues which happen in this world. Elliott, Ream, McGinsky 2012 in his journal states that because some of the player too often play video games so when they addictions in video games, especially violence games, they escape from reality, and the video game encourage and train players to follow a narrow and dangerous model of decision making. Others negative ethic issue on video games such as sexual, verbal assault. There are various countless cases of violence and crime connected directly or indirectly with video gaming. These case or action will attribute bad affect on the ethical perspective of people. Study of Birtles Birtles (2017) quotes of children being ban from playing videogame after midnight as per China government new plan. Children under age of 18 would also have to register game with their personal identity card for system to detect underage children. Children would be under xlose surveillance and would not be allowed to play games which may reflect badly upon them These actions will reduce any crime happen in social and also will reduce addiction of video games from children. Birtles in his study also emphasizes on popularizing certain games which does not showcase fights and murders rather it should focus on enhancing values and skills of children.
